Canon VIXIA HF M40 camcorder – The very low light operation, lens high quality and options are extraordinary.

I also own an NEX-VG10 from Sony, as well as image high quality on this m40 blows the Sony out of the water. I’d go as far as to call this CMOS Pro sensor the “poor man’s RED One.” I’m comparing footage to stuff we shot on a RED One soon after changing it to 1080p. It compares very favorably, and dare I say which the very low light operation is best. (not surprisingly it isn’t filming in 4K, but given that we are actively playing and modifying in 1080p, it would not issue to me).

This digicam has none of your moir? difficulties that plague DSLR-based camcorders like the NEX-VG10. It shoots in native 1080p (and with 24p mode!), and it just astounds me. I was basically shocked when I dumped the video to my Mac. I failed to anticipate this.

Note: You will need to use PULLDOWN Elimination to watch the files properly on a personal computer. That is a limitation of your .mts file format employed by most quite a few cameras. In case you you should not use it, you would possibly mistakenly imagine that the files are 1080i.
